Quiet location within about 30 mins from centre of Dubrovnik with family members either living in same location or visiting daily.
No big problems but the family need to explain clearly what they do and do not provide i.e. not given towels when I arrived only when queried it of the son a few days later. Also didnt realise the fridge in the hall with water and fruit juice was for guests until Nikola told me after a couple of days. Suggest a notice in the room pointing out these two issues. Also, found the sheets uncomfortable in hot weather - need tobe cotton or poly/cotton mix sheets.
Very friendly family. Happy to answer any questions. I had a single room and it included everything(Washing machine, stove, kitchen sink)
The only positive feature of the accommodation was the view over the town from the balcony.
The location was difficult to find and it is a fair way from the town. On arrival we had to find some one to find the owner to let us in; the fridge was not even turned on; there were no cups or glasses in the room. There was a 'shared kitchen' inside the front door with limited cups and glasses. Our passports were taken away and on the day we were leaving, we had to go to the tourist centre who informed us that the owner could be found at the supermarket near the bus stop. The tourist information rang to say that we needed our passports and to pay for our stay. She arranged for us to meet the owner at the bus stop to pay and collect our passports.
This is a room within part of one family's home, which means you have the benefit of a warm and attentive welcome but also enough privacy once the door's locked. The owner speaks excellent English. The old town is about a half hour walk from the bus station, and Jele Rooms is midway between the two, so I found it as good a location as you could hope for in Dubrovnik.
This was a very comfortable place to stay. Our host was lovely--met us at the bus station, fixed us a snack upon arrival, gave us a mini briefing about the city over a map. The room was impeccibly clean. Very positive expereience and would definitely stay again.
Location is halfway between the main bus station and old town--for us, this was a plus, but for some, the location might be too far from old town. It takes about 20-25 minutes to walk it.
Confusion over whether I was going to be picked up at the bus station by jele's Nino, without having to call Nino on my cell phone. English meaning of Nono's e-mail not clear on this point in English to me.
Very welcoming and an easy walk to Old Town (2km away). Supermarket relatively close by, although if you do a big shop I'd recommend later in the day as it's hot walking back up the hill. Also being near the port means local stores and restuarants aren't as overpriced as in the Old Town.
The hosts were quite noisy. Unfortunately my room was downstairs near their house so I was woken very early to them speaking loudly. Not somewhere for a sleep in.
Excellent staff and very good rooms.
It's far ton center.
I really ejoyed staying at this private room. The owner and their family was very friendly. I stayed at the single room and everything was equipped. (air conditioning, fridge, kitchen, private bathroom, and even wash machine) I really loved the grandma! She always take care of the guests and every thime I wnent back to the guest house, she offered juice and replaced the warm bottled water that I had with fresh cold water. One day she treated me the watermelon. The old city is bit far away but there is a good connection with local bus and takes 5-10min. I chose this accomodation becasue it is close to the port and coach station.
Found a bit of mold in the bottom of shower curtain
I loved staying at Jele Rooms! The owners were SO friendly and helpful. The accommodation, a short bus ride from the old town, was peaceful and pleasant to be in. After experience the hoards of people from the massive cruise ships who poured into the old town, it was nice to get back to the serenity of Jele Rooms. My accommodation was immaculately clean. I would try to stay there again if I visit Dubrovik. I also enjoyed that it was near the harour (although a lot of steps), which was lovely to stroll and explore.
The family was extremely nice and courteous. It went out of the way for making my stay comfortable. One of the nicest people you will ever meet. They picked me up from the port and gave me good introduction of the city.
Comfortable room,, lots of space for sitting outside in the beautiful weather. Good kitchen facilities. Best value for money in all of our time spent in Croatia & Bosnia. The complimentary pick-up from bus station was great as it is quite a steep walk to get to accommodation.
Have no complaints at all! Just be prepared for steep hill walk!
I was very friendly treated. The whole family was engaged. Nice people. Very good situated near old town. Easy to get there by bus.
We booked at Jele Rooms, but the very nice lady took us to Lily Rooms, which belongs to the her, where Jele rooms belongs to her mother. She picked us up from the main bus stop. Lily Rooms is at Ulica Petra Hektorovića 18. The rooms are big, with separate kitchenette and bathroom. 3 beds per room. Bakery (for breakfast) and 2 nice restaurants are nearby (50-100m). Bus stop in front. Located in the middle between Babin Kuk and the Old Town (both at 3km). She was very helpful and even borrowed us an umbrella.
Wifi reception on the first floor was very poor. There are some steep stairs, to get to the front door, but that may be the case all over dubrovnik, as the whole town is hilly.
The family who own JeleRooms are so friendly and the room we stayed in was immaculate - we even had some bottles of water chilling in the fridge upon our arrival! We only stayed one night but this location is terrific if you are using the ferry system to go to the Croatian islands near or north of Dubrovnik. The location is also a quick bus ride (5ish minutes) into the old city and steps away from a very good restaurant: Amfora. We also took advantage of the air shuttle service to the airport and Nino was lovely. Thank you again!
